Benefits Of Malai (Fresh Milk Cream) For Skin

Don’t we know how much our moms and nannys used to love applying Malai on our faces? We didn’t realize the reason why?

Thin simple top layer of boiled milk makes a magical lotion for the face. Ideally, it should be of thin consistency and not thick one from which we churn out ghee and butter. The thin consistency of the milk cream is absorbed easily by the skin and doesn’t give the typical smell which some may not like.

Malai is one more off the shelf kitchen remedy which does not require any rocket science to prove its benefits for the facial skin.

Do It Yourself In The Morning

The best time to apply malai is in the morning. Wash your face properly and then apply malai on your face. Wash your face after few minutes and then massage it with whichever moisturizer suits you, preferably aloevera raw gel for sometime.

Besides rendering freshness to the skin, Malai is said to be a very good cleanser.

Let’s look at some quick remedies to cleanse the skin with the Malai.

 Malai For Home Facial

  • Take the milk cream and blend it well between your palms. Add a few drops of rose milk to the milk cream and apply the milk cream on your face in circular motions. Leave on the milk cream on your face for about 15 minutes. Then wipe it of gently using cotton balls. If your skin is really dry, you will find that very less of the milk cream remains on your face.
  • If you have the time, go ahead with the facial sauna. Add a few drops of your favourite aromatherapy oil/rose water (if desired). You can also use the hot towel method if you don’t have a facial sauna.
  • Take steam for 5 minutes. Steam will cleanse your pores and will not let the milk cream settle into your pores to give you any blackheads/breakouts etc.
  • Splash you face with cold water 2-3 times or dip a small towel in cold water and place it on your face to close your pores. Finally, apply a moisturiser if you wish.

Malai For Dry & Oily Skin

Make a paste of one teaspoon of malai, a pinch of turmeric and four to five drops of olive oil. Apply on your face, leave to dry. Wash with cold water and pat dry.

For Oily Skin, you can add a few drops of lemon juice to the above paste and try. If it suits your skin, repeat it once a week.
